Award Process

Nominations close on Friday, 18 October 2019.

Employers must be nominated by an employee or their union. For the “Responsible Best Sourcing” category, employers may be nominated by a service provider, or their extended workforce working with them.

Nominations can be made by filling out the online form here.

TAFEP will be conducting briefing sessions on the TA Award 2020, and sharing key insights and observations from the TA Award 2018. Briefing sessions have been scheduled on:

The briefing sessions are closed. Organisations who have missed the briefing sessions may download the briefing slides to learn more about the TA Award.

To take part in the TA Award, employers must be nominated by their employee, union, service providers or extended workforce.

The TA Award is open to all Singapore-based organisations except the TAL and the tripartite partners (MOM, NTUC and SNEF).

Nominated employers must have:

  1. Signed the Employers’ Pledge of Fair Employment Practices^.
  2. Adopted the required Tripartite Standards (denoted with *).
    • Tripartite Standard on the Employment of Term Contract Employees*
    • Tripartite Standard on Flexible Work Arrangements*
    • Tripartite Standard on Grievance Handling*
    • Tripartite Standard on Recruitment Practices*
    • Tripartite Standard on Age-friendly Workplace Practices**
    • Tripartite Standard on Procurement of Services from Media Freelancers***
    • Tripartite Standard on Contracting with Self-employed Persons****
    • Tripartite Standard on Unpaid Leave for Unexpected Care Needs

      ** Required for “Age Inclusive Practices” category in addition to those denoted with *

      *** Required for “Responsible Best Sourcing” category for organisations that procure services from media freelancers in addition to those denoted with *.

      **** Required for “Responsible Best Sourcing” category for organisations that procure services from self-employed persons in addition to those denoted with *.

  3. Completed the Fair & Progressive Employment Index (FPE Index).

In addition, nominated employers must ensure that they abide by the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TGFEP) as the TA Award recognises exemplary organisations that have effectively implemented fair, responsible and progressive employment practices.

If nominated employers have yet to do the above, they are encouraged to do so in order to be eligible for the TA Award.

^ Organisations that have not already signed the Employers’ Pledge of Fair Employment Practices will be automatically included as Pledge Signers when they adopt the Tripartite Standards.

Please note that the submissions close on Friday, 8 November 2019 with no exceptions.

Nominated employers will be notified by TAFEP and are required to complete and send us:

  1. The TA Award submission form(s).
  2. The pdf copy of the Fair & Progressive Employment Index (FPE Index) results, which is a questionnaire on culture and values. This questionnaire should preferably be completed by a suitable representative from Human Resources or someone who is familiar with the company’s policies and programmes. To complete the FPE Index, please visit fairprogressive.sg.

    We will accept the FPE Index completed no earlier than 1 January 2019, i.e. if you have completed the FPE Index in 2017 or 2018, you are required to update your FPE Index for 2019.
  3. The necessary documents to support your submissions.

To help organisations better understand the award categories and assessment criteria, TAFEP will be conducting coaching clinics based on each category of the award:

Coaching clinics will be conducted separately for each of the four award categories:

  • Session 1 comprises concurrent coaching clinics for the Fair and Progressive Employment Practices and Age Inclusive Practices award categories
  • Session 2 comprises concurrent coaching clinics for the Work-Life Excellence and Responsible Best Sourcing award categories

Interested organisations can (i) register via email at award@tafep.sg and (ii) indicate which coaching clinic(s) they want to attend and for which award category. Successful registrants will receive an email confirmation. Seats are limited to one representative per organisation, per award category.

Participants are required to bring along their draft submission form(s) for the respective award categories to facilitate discussion.

The Assessment process comprises 2 phases. Phase I comprises an assessment of documents provided in part 3 Submission, to shortlist employers who will proceed on to the Phase II site visits.

Employers who qualify for Phase II are required to complete a questionnaire on human capital practices prior to the site visit. This questionnaire on human capital practices has to be completed by the Business Leader and the Human Resource Leader.

During the site visit, an Employee Opinion Survey (applicable only if it is administered onsite), senior management interviews, as well as employee focus groups will be conducted. Nominees who have been shortlisted for the individual awards will also be interviewed during the same site visit.

Winners of the TA Award 2020 will be unveiled at an Awards Ceremony in July 2020.
